Monochromatic Pattern with Francesca’s

Throughout several of my latest interviews for collaborations I’ve been working on, I’ve heard the same question over and over again: What’s your favorite trend for springtime? Truth be told, I’d never even considered an answer to that question before this year because it seems like every. single. year I just go with what I love. I never truly have a favorite trend, I just have favorite outfits. I’m not even usually one to go along with the “trendy.”

This year, things have changed. Ever since seeing the beautiful black and white Kate Spade creations during NYFW, I’ve been in love with the look. I’m usually one to have to throw in some color atleast somewhere but this trend has pretty much stuck to me.

I found my skirt at Francesca’s and was uncertain about it – I’m not even sure why now. I asked my husband at least 20 annoying times before I finally decided. I’m so glad I bought it! I love the fit and feel and, of course, the black and white pattern. They almost remind me of bow ties – love. I’m not a huge shorts kind of girl so you’ll definitely be seeing me in a ton of flowy and flirty skirts this spring and summertime.

The weather this past week has been so bad that even our neighbor deemed it a “prozac week” because of how depressed it can make you. While I’m not considering popping depression meds, I definitely didn’t pass the opportunity yesterday to indulge in the beautiful weather that finally came throughout the weekend. Saturday and Sunday were bright sunshine and 70 degree weather which meant Heaven in south Louisiana.

We soaked it all in by trading in the gym for the lakefront for afternoon jogs with our golden retriever and enjoying good company and amazing drinks at our favorite brewpub on the lakeside during the evening. I couldn’t help but pair brights together to lighten the mood a bit after all of the dreariness that’s been going around due to storms and freezing cold temps. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been trying out all kinds of color combinations lately and I’ve really begun to love the outcome. I’ve found amazing new ways to rewear my closet.

Plus, I just couldn’t pass the opportunity to take my Melie Bianco bag out for a spin (she matches so perfectly!) Have you tried any new color combinations lately? I’ve love to see them. Tag me in your photos on Instagram using #SecretiveStyle to show me your cutest outfits! And, get ready for some amazing news coming up later this week. Hint: it involves a giveaway.

What’s In My Bag?

Ever since Melie Bianco so graciously sent me their “Jill” cross body, my Coach bag has pretty much taken a far second place to it. While it may be small, never judge a book by its cover. When I first received it, I thought that it’d be ideal for shopping in New Orleans, nights on Bourbon Street, or for times when I just don’t feel like carrying my bag. I was so wrong. This bag is useful for so much more and I absolutely love it.

Our 5 month old Golden Retriever is a little bit hyper (he’s still just a pup) so when we go for a run and I need my house and gate keys, this bag is ideal. I also love to wear it grocery shopping (I hate taking up the front space of the buggy with my larger Coach bags), and for running errands. I even like to wear it to the salon because who wants to put a $600 purse on the hair-infested floor? Not this girl.

I love it mostly because I can fit so much more into it than meets the eye. I’m a little obsessed with brushing my hair. I have a mild panic attack if it’s messy, I’ll admit it. So, I love to carry around my small Estee Lauder comb/mirror compact. I also always have my iPhone, Ray Bans, keys, ID/debit cards, and lipsticks. It’s a HUGE plus that I still have room for extra bobby pins, my fave Essie nail polish for touchups on the go, and a little sampler of perfume for dinner dates.

It’s amazing and insanely affordable. Grab yours here.
