Good morning dolls,

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend (and are enjoying your day off today!) I wore this outfit yesterday on our way back home. We spent the entire weekend in north Louisiana with my family for the holiday weekend and headed back yesterday to go back to work. I found my shorts at Frock Candy and absolutely fell in love. I wanted something a little festive and these shorts scream Memorial Day (and even July 4th!) I’m usually not a “shorts” girl but I’ve been trying to break out of the norm and try new things. They’re super comfy and actually feel like pajamas except they look way cuter.

Oh, and let’s not forget my amazing Spartina 449 Folio phone wristlet. When I first saw the designs, I fell in love with the entire collection. It was hard to pick just one, but I chose this one because it goes with a lot more items that are currently in my closet and the design feels so tropical. I only wish I had a matching bag! I’ve been searching for a wristlet that would hold my phone. I absolutely love this one and it’s under $50! Check out more designs, here.

Thanks for reading! xo,

Kait

Outfit: Top – Frock Candy / Jeans: Lucky Brand / Shoes: Frock Candy

Jewelry: Necklaces: ℅ Sweet & Spark & Francesca’s / Bracelets: Francesca’s

I’m so excited to announce that I’ve partnered up with the sweet Jillian of Sweet and Spark. I had the pleasure of interviewing Jillian and I can totally relate to everything she had to say. When she sent me my first “spark”, I was totally blown away. The necklace that I’m wearing is the perfect piece. It can be worn with others like it or alone, dressed up or down. I wore it to work and everyone literally went on and on about it. My favorite part about Sweet  & Spark is that every piece is a one-of-a-kind piece. If someone wanted this necklace, they’d have to borrow it from me. Read below for our interview & to learn a little more about Sweet & Spark.

How did the idea of Sweet & Spark come about?
Sweet & Spark started as a lifestyle blog in April 2011 as a creative outlet from living life on the road as a former buyer for all American Brands, most recently helping launch a new brand for American Eagle Outfitters. After the brand I was working on closed, I decided to leave and pursue my dream of building a brand by combining my dad’s antiquing hobby with my merchandising background. I’d grown up going to yard sales and flea markets with him and was always amazed at how much cool stuff is out there! I re-launched in November 2012 as a curated, vintage jewelry brand.

Where did the name Sweet & Spark come from?
The name Sweet & Spark stems from my values. The sweet part embodies a belief in being genuine to everyone, spreading love and helping connect people to one another. The sparky part is  about believing in yourself enough to follow your dreams. Lately we’ve been referring to the jewelry as spark!

Were you nervous leaving your full time gig in corporate America to fulfill a lifelong dream?
Leaving corporate America was definitely the scariest thing I’ve ever done but I knew there was never going to be a better time. I always say, “you only live one time”. The hardest part is making the decision and starting, the rest evolves from there.

What has been the most fun and amazing part of starting Sweet & Spark?
I’ve met more new friends and inspiring people in the last 6 months than I have in the last 5 years! I’m always re-energized when I step away from the details of the business and meet new people over coffee. Everyone in the entrepreneurial & blogging communities have been so welcoming, I couldn’t be more thankful!

How would you describe Sweet & Spark to someone whose never heard of it?
Sweet & Spark is for the girl who is obsessed with fashion & appreciates vintage but doesn’t have the time to sift through the overwhelming amount of products and vendors on sites like etsy & ebay or spend her weekends out at flea markets. We’re doing the dirty work finding and curating it. At the core we’re about classics and seasonally we build collections mimicking current trends.
I absolutely love how you combine classy and vintage appeal. Who is your inspiration?
Aside from this being my career, it’s also my hobby. I LOVE reading blogs and scouring pinterest for new ideas. Aside from my bay area blogger friends that were featured in our Spr/Sum look book, some of my favorites include Atlantic-PacificSee JaneGal Meets Glam & Pink Peonies.

You only can wear three items from your shop forever. Which three?
I try not to get too attached to anything or I wouldn’t have a brand but, I am a sucker for statement earrings. I secretly hope these don’t sell anytime soon!

Where do you find your pieces? Any specific places or random?
My dad manages the buying side of the business as that’s his passion. He lives on the East coast and spends his time between Buffalo, NY & Vero Beach, FL. He’s the first one at a community yard sale and loves being a vendor at his weekly flea market. It’s all about the thrill of a find, some days you’ll go out and find nothing and other days you come home with bags full of spark! I’ve been on a few sparkhuntin’ trips with him and I can promise you getting up at 5am everyday is not fun! Follow along on instagram for more behind the scenes!

From the looks of your site, you’re a gold girl like me. How do you feel about the gold & silver combining trend?
I believe there are no “fashion rules”, it’s all about wearing a trend with confidence. Any girl can mix black & brown, gold & silver and wear denim on denim. Just don’t forget to leave the house without a smile!
Now that you’ve hit this goal, what’s the next big dream for you?
For me, success means building something bigger than myself. I’m still at the beginning of this journey and am just trying to enjoy the ride. It’s been an adventure filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. There’s so much noise on the internet these days, the biggest challenge continues to be sharing the spark! Stay friends with us on facebook & twitter.

IMG_6499Good morning readers,

I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite new accessories. I’ve really fallen in love with all-gold-everything lately & all of my silver items have taken a hard fall into last place. And, for some reason, I had been stuck in a rut of only buying turquoise and baby blue accessories. It must be the spring weather because every year at this time, I always go for the blue items. When shopping, I’ve been asking myself “do I have something of this color?” in an effort to round out my collection and own more colors so that I can change up my look a little bit for summertime. Frock Candy, Poshlocket, Francesca’s, and Brighthouse Baubles are my absolute favorite places to shop for jewelry.

I just can’t help but go for HUGE pops of color, gold, and pave! Speaking of pave & gold, have you entered my giveaway with Poshlocket yet? For full details, click here. You have until this Thursday!
